There is genuinely no other venue in Melbourne quite like this. The Old Melbourne Gaol is heritage-listed, bluestone-built, and charged with the kind of atmosphere that money can't manufacture. It stops guests in their tracks before a single canapé has landed.
CSE brings the culinary theatre to match. From intimate dinners in the Cellblock to grand-scale cocktail receptions in The Courtyard, events here are atmospheric by nature and extraordinary by design.
THE SPACES
Four ways to host at Old Melbourne Gaol
Cellblock
The main cellblock, lit from above through the original timber-trussed roof. Long-table dinners run the full length of the hall, with atmosphere lighting and history on the walls.
Watchhouse
Tighter and rawer than the Gaol proper, and made for cocktail receptions with a private tour or a roving police sergeant built into the evening.
Old Magistrates Court
The original courtroom, and the most theatrical room on the site. Cocktail only, and well suited to receptions, launches and speeches that want a room with authority.
Courtyard
The open-air courtyard between the Gaol buildings. The largest space on site, for seated dinners up to 200 and grand-scale cocktail receptions up to 400.
